Dubai -- The Dubai Executive Council discussed plans to adopt a green building system for all new buildings, Gulf News reported Tuesday.
Dubai's government has been working to address changes in weather, global heat retention, preserving water resources and other environmental problems; the proposed Green Building Project would be an extension of its efforts, including pollution reduction.
Founder of the Green Building Council and Board Secretary Mario Seneviratne told the council that green building could cut water consumption by 25 to 30 percent.
The council is currently considering information from a green building study as its weighs a decision.
Meanwhile, voluntary green projects continue. Dubai today has three green buildings; 25 additional projects are in progress.
