LEED for Homes to Be Announced This Week
Published: November 06, 2007
Chicago -- The U.S. Green Building Council's much-anticipated LEED for Homes program will be launched at its annual Greenbuild conference this week.
Following a two-year pilot program stage that ended last spring, LEED for Homes will provide green building guidelines for residential structures. It is part of the USGBC's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, which is currently the national standard for green building design and construction -- but was created solely for commercial building in 2000.
LEED focuses on five areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
Greenbuild will be held in Chicago November 7 to 9.
